Chromite Ore Export from Pakistan
Chromite Ore Exports From Pakistan
Saremco International, a leading player in the Pakistani mineral sector, has established itself as a major exporter of high-quality chromium ore. This article delves into the intricacies of chromite ore export from Pakistan, highlighting Saremco International’s role, the economic impact, market dynamics, and the geopolitical factors influencing this trade.
Overview of Chromite Its Industrial Significance
Chromite is a crucial mineral used in the metallurgical industry. It serves as the primary source of chromium, an essential element in producing stainless steel, various alloys, and refractory materials. The demand for chromium ore is driven by its extensive use in the chemical industry and metal processing sectors. As a result, countries with rich chromite mineral reserves like Pakistan play a pivotal role in meeting global demand.
Pakistan’s Chromite Deposits
Pakistan’s chromite reserves are primarily found in the Baluchistan province, which is known for its geological richness. The region’s mining operations have been a significant contributor to the local economy, providing employment and fostering economic growth. Extensive geological surveys and resource assessments have highlighted the potential of these natural deposits, making Pakistan a key player in the global chromite market.
Specification Concentration
The standard specifications for chromite ore concentration are presented in following table.
Cr2O3 | 52.50-54% basic |
CrFe | 2:8:1 |
SiO2 | 1.5% , less than 5% |
MgO | 20%Max |
Al2O3 | 13%Max |
P | 0.01%Max |
S | 0.01%Max |
Size | 0-1mm 95% |
Moisture level of finished good | Less than 0.6% |
Chromite Extraction and Process
1: Chromite lumps have a concentration of 40-45%, it means that 40-45% of the material is composed of chromium oxide, while the remaining percentage consists of other minerals and impurities.
2: Chromite particles are further reduced in size through the process of grinding. Grinding is typically done in ball mills, which are rotating cylindrical steel vessels.
3: The wet process may involve a combination of these techniques to achieve the desired level of purity in the chromite concentrate. Impurities are separated through this process.
4: The flotation process for recovering chromite with fine grain size (100 um) involves a series of steps to separate the valuable mineral from the gangue minerals. This is a unique flotation type
5: After flotation upgraded chromite product is obtained with concentration 52-54%.
